OSPREY BOOSTER STAFF:
| Derek Marinatos | Assistant Athletic Director of Development | derek.marinatos@unf.edu Marinatos was hired as Assistant Athletic Director in January of 2024 to fundraise for major gifts, endowed scholarships, capital projects and premium seating, as well as other alternative revenue streams and new corporate partnerships. Marinatos has been very active with creating UNF Athletics Lifestyle Projects with local area businesses like Ink Factory Brewing, Angie's Subs and Sunrise Surf Shop. Prior to his new role in Athletic Devlopment, he served as head men's soccer soccer coach at North Florida from 2010 to 2023 where he led the program to two regular season championships, its first NCAA tournament appearance in the DI era in 2015 and garnered two coach of the year honors, as well as helping produce a number of professional players. A Jacksonville native, Derek got his bachelor's degree in economics from Emory University and Master's degree in Sport Administration from Georgia State University and was a graduate of Bolles High School. He is married to Brittany Braun Marinatos and has three sons, Maxwell, Jaxon and Hudson Marinatos |

Jaycie Wegner | Special Events Coordinator | jaycie.wegner@unf.edu
Jaycie Wegner takes over as UNF Athletics’ special events coordinator, assisting in promoting, coordinating and conducting the execution of the department’s many special events and fundraising efforts throughout the year. Wegner began assisting UNF earlier in the fall before assuming a full-time role in December.
Wegner comes from a position as event coordinator with the Len Mattiace Foundation in Jacksonville. Wegner helped coordinate large events, assisting in social media efforts, ticket sales and donations from the events.
The Florida native also brings experience from internships with the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour and the University Athletic Association Marketing Department at the University of Florida. Wegner also spent three years as a photographer with the Walnut Creek Country Club and had the opportunity to work as a game day ambassador with the Pro Bowl in 2020. Wegner comes to UNF after earning her bachelor’s of science from Florida in 2020.

Matheo Mateos | Coordinator | m.mateos@unf.edu
Serves as Coordinator of Athletic Development for UNF Athletics. He is in charge of sport-specific fundraising efforts for UNF’s 18 sport programs, while supporting the annual fund and Giving Day campaign.
Collaborates with coaches to support sport-alumni engagement and donor communications. Assists in the planning and execution of key fundraising initiatives, special events and hospitality operations.
Prior to joining UNF, Mateos worked with the John Purdue Club at Purdue Athletics as an intern. In that role, he fundraised and stewarded sport-specific gifts, supported special events, and assisted with giving day campaigns.
Mateos earned a Bachelor of Science from Lindenwood University and his MBA from Purdue University in 2025, where he was a member of the swimming and diving program at both institutions.
He represented Paraguay at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
